😆 Adobe releases new “Creative Cloud” pricing

This week, Adobe announced pricing changes to its Creative Cloud plans that will affect subscribers in North America (U.S., Canada, Mexico) starting June 17, 2025.

The company is discontinuing its popular “Creative Cloud All Apps” plan ($59.99/month) and replacing it with "Creative Cloud Pro" at $69.99/month—a $10 increase that represents the biggest price hike in years.

Now, there will be two plans: Creative Cloud Pro and Creative Cloud Standard.

The catch? Existing users must manually switch to Standard to avoid the price increase. If you do nothing, you'll be automatically enrolled in the more expensive Pro plan at renewal.

Here’s a breakdown of the new plans 👇

Creative Cloud Pro ($69.99/month):

  • All the same apps you had before (Photoshop, Premiere, etc.).

  • Unlimited standard AI generations.

  • 4,000 monthly credits for premium AI features like video generation.

  • Access to third-party AI models within Adobe apps.

Creative Cloud Standard ($54.99/month):

  • Same desktop apps but limited AI features.

  • Only 25 monthly AI credits (down from 1,000).

  • No access to premium AI features or mobile app premium features.

Students face an even steeper increase—renewal pricing jumps from $19.99 to $39.99/month after the first year, with no option to downgrade to Standard (!!!).

Adobe has already implemented price increases earlier this year for Photography plans, with the 20GB plan jumping from $9.99 to $14.99/month.

These changes only affect North American customers for now, with other regions remaining unchanged.

📺 Disney and Universal sue “Midjourney”

Side-by-side image comparison included in Disney and Universal’s lawsuit against Midjourney.

This week, Disney and Universal joined forces to file the first major Hollywood lawsuit against AI image generator Midjourney, alleging copyright infringement.

  • The studios claim Midjourney functions as a "virtual vending machine" generating "endless unauthorized copies" of their copyrighted characters without permission.

  • The studios included numerous examples of AI-generated images featuring characters from Cars, Toy Story, Shrek, The Avengers, and Minions from Despicable Me.

They're particularly concerned that Midjourney showcases these infringing images in its "Explore" section, demonstrating awareness of the copyright violations.

Side-by-side image comparison included in Disney and Universal’s lawsuit against Midjourney.

What this means for creatives:

  • First of its kind: This represents the first major lawsuit by Hollywood studios against generative AI, setting a crucial precedent for how IP protection might evolve in the AI era.

  • Industry-wide implications: Disney and Universal are seeking $150,000 per infringed work, with damages potentially exceeding $20 million across more than 150 allegedly infringed works.

  • Broader movement: The case joins similar lawsuits from The New York Times, Sony Music, and Getty Images against various AI companies, suggesting coordinated pushback from content creators.

Unlike heavily funded competitors like OpenAI (backed by billions from Microsoft) or Stability AI (which raised $100+ million), Midjourney remains completely self-funded with just ~40 employees.

This makes them a strategically easier target than tech giants with deep legal resources.

"We are bullish on the promise of AI technology and optimistic about how it can be used responsibly as a tool to further human creativity… But piracy is piracy, and the fact that it's done by an AI company does not make it any less infringing."

Horacio Gutierrez, Senior Executive VP and Chief Legal & Compliance Officer of The Walt Disney Company

🔥 Replit releases “Replit Import”

This week, Replit released "Replit Import," a feature that transforms designs from Figma, Lovable, and Bolt into production-ready applications with AI assistance.

This launch bridges the gap between design and development, allowing designers to turn static mockups into functional web apps without writing code. The feature builds on Replit's original Figma integration but now offers enhanced fidelity and backend generation capabilities.

With Replit Import, you can now:

  • Import designs seamlessly: Upload projects from Figma with just a few clicks, or migrate Lovable and Bolt apps through GitHub integration.

  • Maintain visual fidelity: Enhanced component generation preserves the original design's appearance and structure during conversion.

  • Generate backend functionality: Ask the Replit Agent to create necessary backend features like databases, user authentication, and APIs after importing your designs.

  • Deploy instantly: Move from design to live application faster than ever with Replit's built-in hosting and deployment tools.

The feature includes built-in security scanning to identify and fix vulnerabilities, ensuring imported projects meet production standards.

For designers managing multiple projects or creators building their first app, Replit Import streamlines the entire design-to-production workflow.
