📱 Instagram Announces Generative AI-Powered Editing Tool

Instagram has launched a new AI-powered tool for U.S. users to edit the backgrounds of their images for Instagram Stories. The tool offers ready-made prompts and the option to create personalized backgrounds.

When users publish a Story using this feature, it includes a sticker encouraging others to try it. This follows Snapchat's introduction of AI-generated images for premium subscribers.

Meta has also expanded its AI offerings by making AI-powered characters available across all its apps and launching “Imagine with Meta”, an AI-image generator.

🤖 Create AI-Generated Content From ANYTHING

Tibo on X recently acquired Typeframes and released this amazing new feature; create an AI-generated video from anything.

How you may ask? AI generates the captions, adds music, and adds b-roll based of the script you provide it.

This is currently a work-in-progress, but it works for both long-form, horizontal videos, and short-form, vertical videos.

🤯 Adobe x Figma $20B Deal Cancelled, Cancellation Policy Under FTC Investigation

This week, Adobe and Figma mutually ended their $20 billion merger agreement due to regulatory pressures from the UK and EU.

This merger would have been the biggest software acquisition of all-time 🤯 

Regulators were concerned that Adobe's acquisition of Figma, a growing design platform with 4M+ users, would stifle innovation and strengthen Adobe's near-monopoly in the design software market.

• 11% of UX/UI designers use Figma as their primary tool.

• The usage of Figma among designers grew by 42% in 2020.

• 89% of Figma users recommend the tool to other designers.

• There are more than 1 million teams currently using Figma for their design processes.

• Figma’s user base has grown by over 200% since 2018.

• On average, Figma users spend 2.5 hours per session using the tool.

Adobe will pay Figma a $1 billion termination fee. Both companies disagreed with the regulatory findings but chose to proceed independently.

Additionally, The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is investigating Adobe for potentially violating the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act due to complaints about its complex cancellation policies and additional fees.

Users have criticized its complex process, often involving phone calls and termination fees, which contradicts the FTC's “Click to Cancel” initiative for fair, straightforward online subscription cancellations.
