🤝 Figma acquires “Modyfi”

This week, Figma acquired Modyfi, an AI-powered platform (founded in 2021) that enables users to design, generate, and animate projects inside a browser-based interface.

Modyfi, known for combining AI-assisted design, vector creation, and animation features, brings a unique set of tools to Figma’s ecosystem — all of which are currently only possible through select Figma Plugins.

While you wait for the exciting things coming to Figma, you can try out the free Modyfi plugin for Figma.

This comes at an interesting time, as Figma has been rumored to be working on an “AI App Maker,” “Figma Sites,” and has filed to go public (IPO), after a failed $20 billion merger with Adobe in 2023.

Here’s what you can do in Modyfi (and what will potentially be coming to Figma) 👇️

1) Motion Design ⚡️

In Modyfi, users can quickly transform their designs into perfect loops, animating everything from text to modifiers & pen strokes.

Plus, the editor stays interactive even as your motion plays at 60 frames-per-second, allowing users to fine-tune and adjust their designs in real-time.

2) 40+ Motion Effects

Speaking of motion design, Modyfi has 40+ built-in effects that you can apply to designs, all of which are real-time editable, non-destructive, animatable, and completely free to use.

3) Command Bar 🔎

In Modyfi, users can perform quick actions on their designs by simply typing text prompts inside the “Command Bar.”

This allows users with no previous experience using the app to design and animate their projects.

4) Artificial Intelligence 🤖

Modyfi’s built-in AI features enable users to edit images with fine-tuned controls.

This isn’t Figma’s first foray into AI. The company has been steadily integrating artificial intelligence into its platform, a strategy that became more evident after its 2023 acquisition of Diagram, an AI-driven design startup founded by Jordan Singer.

Modyfi users have until June 13, 2025, to export their artwork, as the platform will cease operations post-acquisition.

3D/4D DESIGN
📦️ KREA AI releases “Stage”

KREA AI launched “Stage,” a new tool that allows users to transform 2D images or text prompts into fully immersive 3D environments with just a few clicks.

This accessibility opens up new possibilities for artists, game developers, and filmmakers to experiment with 3D content creation in a streamlined way.

The core strength of Stage lies in its ability to convert flat 2D visuals into editable 3D scenes, a process that traditionally required sophisticated software and expertise

And maybe even more impressive, characters will also auto-rig, with no pre-built assets being used in the environments.

KREA AI is actively working on the ability to export environments as .fbx files and other 3D file types.
